How to map a Gothic lock

Three details are enough to reproduce the in-game mechanism precisely.

“Observe first.
Then make the move.”

01

Number the gates

Gate 1 is the plate furthest from you. Count toward the front plate where the lockpick enters.

02

Mark both pins

Holes run 1–7 from left to right. Set the brass start pin and the green target pin for every gate.

03

Add directional links

Cycle each cell through none, same (S), and opposite (O) to match how another gate reacts.

FIELD REFERENCEGate 1 sits at the back. Holes run left → right.

Use the red labels as your reference when transferring a lock into the solver.

03 Why it works

Every legal state.
No guesswork.

The Gothic lockpick solver searches outward from your starting positions one click at a time. The first route to reach all target pins is therefore a shortest solution.

Shortest pathBreadth-first search minimizes clicks
Hard-wall rulesMoves beyond holes 1–7 are rejected
Direct links onlyLinked movements never chain onward

Frequently asked questions

How does the Gothic lockpick solver work?

Set each gate’s start and target pin, reproduce its links, and press Solve. The tool explores only legal moves and returns a shortest sequence.

Does it support Gothic Remake locks?

Yes. This solver is designed for the Gothic Remake multi-gate lockpicking mechanism and handles locks containing four through seven gates.

What do S and O links mean?

Same (S) moves the linked gate in the same direction. Opposite (O) moves it in the reverse direction. Links affect one other gate directly and do not chain.

Are saved locks uploaded anywhere?

No. Named lock setups remain in local browser storage on your current device.
